![]() Over the weekend 21 - 23 February we were a bunch of dedicated macro photographers and nudi nerds who met in Middelfart by the Little Belt and accommodated us at Hindsgavl campground. The purpose was a kompination of taking a lot of photos of Nudibranches and being together for a common interest. In addition to looking nudi photos on the big screen, a few of the guys also showed shark movies from South Africa and images and movies with killer whales and humpback whales from the north of Norway. A selection of my photos from the weekend can be found HERE! ![]() To participate in a photo contest in which the subject is nudibranch 's in different categories , I went out to dive with my camera. The competition started on 1 February, and I was out in hopes of getting a good start. Due to weather conditions , I had to opt out of my first choice for a good place to start, because the current in the belt was very strong and my dive buddies reported poor visibility . I chose a shallow dive at a place right across from our dive club where I did not expect quite as much current. After about forty minutes the dive is about to end , and I move up to the five-meter zone to keep my safety stop. On my way up I spotted something that could be interresting , a small white spot inside a bush of Tubularia larynx. Since the size was less than five millimeters I had to take a picture and enlarge it on the camera to see it was a nudibranch . I could also see that it was not like others I saw in the area. Home on the computer's larger screen , I could see that this was not one I had seen before. After a lot of detective work on the Internet's different slugs pages and various forums I found out that the species was Cuthona gymnota. From what I found out, it was not seen in inner Danish waters before. Last records were from the sixties, from the Faroe Islands and Iceland. So full of joy I could on the contest first day submit a new species to the side which hosted the competition. ![]() Juvenil Aeolidiella glauca. First time to see this specie in Lillebaelt. The size is approx 6-7 mm. More from the dive Here! |
